Creamy White Sauce Pasta

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz of pasta (such as fettuccine, penne or spaghetti)
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • 3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1/2 cup of grated parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook it according to the package instructions until it is al dente. Drain the pasta and set it aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook it until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Stir in the flour and cook for another 1-2 minutes, or until the mixture becomes a paste-like consistency.
  4. Gradually pour in the milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
  5. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
  6. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the grated parmesan cheese and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Add the cooked pasta to the white sauce and toss to combine.
  8. Serve the pasta in individual bowls, garnished with chopped parsley.

Note: you can add cooked chicken, mushrooms, bacon, or vegetables like spinach or broccoli to the pasta. You can also use heavy cream instead of milk to make it richer, or add some nutmeg, cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes for extra flavor.
