Ingredients:
- 2 slices of bread (white, wheat, or your choice)
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup (30g) grated cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or your favorite)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped fresh herbs (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- Preheat a non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium heat.
- Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
- Using a cookie cutter or a knife, cut a hole in the center of one bread slice. This will be the top slice of your toast.
- Place the bread slices, buttered side down, on the preheated skillet.
- Crack one egg into a small bowl or ramekin. Gently slide the egg into the hole in the center of the top bread slice.
- Sprinkle grated cheese evenly over the top of the egg and bread.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Cook the bread and egg on the skillet for about 2-3 minutes or until the bottom bread slice is toasted and the egg white is mostly set.
- Carefully flip the toast with a spatula, making sure the egg stays inside the hole. Continue cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes or until the bottom bread slice is toasted and the egg is cooked to your desired level of doneness (runny or fully cooked).
- Remove the Egg and Cheese Toast from the skillet and transfer it to a serving plate.
- Garnish with chopped fresh herbs, such as parsley or chives, if desired.
- Repeat the process to make another Egg and Cheese Toast with the remaining slice of bread and egg.
- Serve the Delicious Egg and Cheese Toast immediately while still warm and enjoy!
