Ingredients
- 2 cups Plain Flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat
your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour a 9x9-inch square baking pan.
2. In
a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Set aside.
3. In
a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat
in the eggs, one at a time, until fully incorporated.
4. Add
the vanilla extract to the milk and mix well. Add the dry ingredients to the
wet ingredients in three parts, alternating with the milk mixture. Mix well
after each addition until the batter is smooth.
5. Pour
the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
6. Bake
for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake
comes out clean.
7. Allow
the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack
to cool completely. Serve and enjoy!
